The Scarlet Pimpernel Read Aloud Chapters 1-3: feat. laughter/technical difficulties/french mispronunciation!

Hello there, everyone!

Today marks a very special day, the day when we launch our Read Along!!

A bit of behind the scenes talk is in order before we proceed. In our announcement post we mentioned wanting to show you our sukkah since this week is Sukkot, but alas due to technical difficulties we are unable to video it, so here are a few photos of our tent!!

We set up our tent on our back porch since it's the flattest place.

Here are our comfy beds; we drag out our mattresses and fluffy blankets.

Ahh, so cozy!

And now without futher ado.... ze video!

Well, what did you think of these chapters? How do you pronounce Bibot? WHAT IS THAT MAN'S NAME FROM SENSE AND SENSIBILITY???? How were our narrating abilities?  Cood ye undarstant us kitchen wenches?? I think one of my (Katherine here) favorite parts was Grace's reading the line - 'Mr. Harry, he be thirsty too'!  Her cockney accent was so hilarious there!  Hee Hee!

Give us your feedback.  We shall see you next week with the next three chapters!

  3. Bravo! I thoroughly enjoyed your first video for The Scarlet Pimpernel! You were both brilliant and delightfully funny. I love it!

It's fascinating to be re-reading The Scarlet Pimpernel after so many years. I'd forgotten it took so long for Percy to be introduced as a character! And I'd forgotten that he and Marguerite are already married at the beginning of this book, already suffering through mistrust and anxiety. Goodness. I'm curious to know who the gentleman playing dominos are too. It might be Chauvelin, like you thought, but I honestly can't remember and I'm refraining from pulling my copy of the book off my shelves. I'd rather be surprised.

Keep up the good work! You're doing splendidly. I sat and knitted on my extremely long-suffering shawl. It got me through two more very long rows, so bless you both for that. I look forward to the next installment!

The gentleman from Sense and Sensibility is Sir John Middleton. ;)

    1. Oh my dear Carissa, you have no idea how happy this makes me!! Yes, it is interesting to start where Percy and Marguerite are already married. I've only ever seen the movie so I am extra intrigued to see what happens.
Oh nice, a shawl would be very fun to make, what color is your?
Ah yes thank you, I still couldn't remember his name!!!

    2. Oh, Carissa, you've warmed our hearts with your compliments and thoughts! We are so happy to get back positive feedback especially as the creating and editing was more difficult than expected!
Yes, it's funny how Percy doesn't show up right away. It's certainly not what you'd expect. Yes, we shall hopefully soon rediscover who that mysterious stranger is.
Oh, wow! I wish I could see a picture of your shawl - that's simply sublime you are knitting a project like that! I'll have to show my afghan if I get to finishing it through the making of future videos.
Yes!! Sir John Middleton!! That's his name! You saved the day! Thank you for telling us that!
Looking forward to reading the next three chapters "with" you! :) :) Thank you so much again for your comment!
